What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your browser or device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners about how their site is used.

Some cookies are essential for a website to function at all. Others are optional and used for analytics, error tracking, or personalisation. Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we must tell you about the cookies we use and — for non-essential cookies — obtain your consent before setting them.

Cookies we use.

Veltrace uses three categories of cookie: essential, analytics, and error tracking. The table below lists every cookie we set.

Essential cookies.

Essential cookies are strictly necessary for Veltrace to function. Without them, you cannot stay signed in, and certain features will not work. Under PECR, essential cookies do not require your consent — however, we still tell you about them.

sb-[ref]-auth-token is set by Supabase, our authentication provider, when you sign in. It stores a secure session token in your browser. Without it, you would be logged out every time you navigate to a new page. You can delete it by signing out of your account, clearing your browser's cookies, or setting your browser to reject cookies (though this will prevent you from using any authenticated features).

cookie_consent is a simple flag set by Veltrace's own cookie banner script. It records that you have seen and acknowledged our cookie notice. Without it, the cookie notice would reappear on every visit.

Analytics cookies.

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use Veltrace. This helps us identify which features are popular, where users encounter difficulty, and how to improve the product. Analytics cookies collect data about page views, session duration, and general geographic region. They do not identify you personally.

Analytics cookies are set only when you consent via our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time using the options below. You can also opt out of all Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which works regardless of your cookie consent status on this site.

Google LLC, the provider of Google Analytics, is based in the United States. Data transfers to Google are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Error tracking cookies.

We use Sentry to monitor and diagnose JavaScript errors on the Veltrace platform. When an error occurs in your browser, Sentry captures a report including the error message, stack trace, browser type, and a session identifier. This helps us fix bugs quickly.

The sentry-sc cookie is a session cookie — it is deleted when you close your browser tab or window. It contains only an anonymous session identifier; it does not contain your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information. Sentry error reports do not include authentication tokens or payment data.

Error tracking cookies are set only when you consent via our cookie banner. Sentry is based in the United States; data transfers are covered by Sentry's Data Processing Addendum incorporating Standard Contractual Clauses. See the Sentry Privacy Policy for more information.

How to control cookies.

You have several options for managing cookies:

1. Our cookie banner

When you first visit Veltrace, a cookie consent banner is displayed. You can choose to accept all cookies or essential cookies only. You can change your preference at any time by clearing the cookie_consent cookie from your browser and refreshing the page — the banner will reappear.

2. Browser settings

All modern browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. Instructions for the most common browsers:

• Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
• Mozilla Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
• Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
• Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

Note: blocking essential cookies (especially the Supabase auth cookie) will prevent you from signing in to Veltrace.

3. Google Analytics opt-out

You can block Google Analytics across all sites using the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. This installs a browser extension that prevents the GA tracking script from sending data to Google.

4. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Veltrace does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals because there is no accepted standard for how websites should act on them. We instead rely on explicit consent via our cookie banner for all non-essential cookies.

Changes to this policy.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time when we add or remove cookies or change how we use them. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will notify you via email or via the cookie consent banner.
